Intro talk: Wave propagation in disordered materials: effects of structural correlations and non-linearities
- đ¤ Speaker: Romain Pierrat (CNRS (Centre national de la recherche scientifique))
- đ Date & Time: Wednesday 22 March 2023, 09:00 - 10:00
- đ Venue: Seminar Room 1, Newton Institute
Abstract
In a first part, I will explain how correlations of the disorder can have a strong impact on light propagation in complex media. As an illustration, the particular case of a hyperuniform disorder will be discussed by showing its interest for the transparency of a medium or on the contrary allowing to maximize its absorption. In a second part, I will address the case of a disordered medium with a Chi2-type response and I will detail the subtle processes coming into play in this case.
