Abstract
It from qubit â the slogan expresses the idea that information may play a crucial role in the foundations of physics. In this talk I will consider a particular branch of information theory, quantum cryptography, and argue that it can provide useful insights into quantum gravity. To illustrate this idea, I will explain how the quantum de Finetti theorem, which originally was developed to enable security proofs of quantum key distribution, yields answers to questions related to the Hawking radiation emitted by black holes. (The talk is based on joint work with Jinzhao Wang, arXiv:2110.14653).
