Abstract
This talk deals with the numerical simulation of Bose-Einstein condensates modelled by nonlinear Schrödinger equations (Gross-Pitaevskii equations). We will discuss phenomena such as localisation of the wave function under disorder potentials, the formation of vortex lattices in fast rotating potential traps and dynamical phase transitions. Surprisingly, localisation theories from numerical homogenisation will play a central role both for the theoretical understanding of wave phenomena and for the development of efficient and reliable numerical simulation methods.
