Abstract
The idea for this work was initiated as a result of fruitful discussions with Prof G.W. Milton on transient propagation of waves through waveguides whose physical properties may abruptly change in time. The important feature of such temporal interfaces is the wave reflection and transmission in transient regimes. In the lecture, we show an example of a structure of periodic temporal interfaces, which leads to a transmission resonance. Furthermore, we consider a new type of temporal interfaces, a chiral temporal interface, that provides coupling between different displacements components, and analyse transmission patterns. The lecture is based on the results of the joint work with N.V. Movchan, I.S. Jones, G.W. Milton and H.-M. Nguyen.
