Abstract
Gas is now being detected in extrasolar systems during the debris disc stage, which was an unexpected discovery. In this presentation, I will discuss the observed gas species and their spatial distribution relative to planetesimal belts. I will also present the latest models aimed at explaining the origin and evolution of the gas and its impact on the overall planetary system, including the potential effects on planet atmospheres. Lastly, I will share insights into the future prospects of this emerging field and offer thoughts on what can be anticipated in future research.
