Abstract

Porous materials have become increasingly important in modern engineering due to their unique properties and versatile applications. These materials are characterized by their ability to allow fluids, gases, and even certain types of electromagnetic radiation to pass through them, with or without significant changes in structural and mechanical properties. Soil and wood are examples of natural porous media that allow water transport and provide structural support. Porous materials are used in a wide range of engineering fields, including biomedical, environmental, and energy industries. Examples of applications include the use of porous materials in filtration, catalysis, insulation, and energy storage. The development of advanced porous materials and their engineering applications is an active area of research and is expected to continue to grow in importance as engineers seek more sustainable and efficient solutions to pressing global challenges.
