Abstract
Animals make inhomogeneous use of space, and these non-uniform movement patterns underpin the efficacy and plasticity of foraging, mate-finding and other ecologically relevant interactions. We present an analitically solvable model of wildlife-vehicle collisions of a range-resident animal on a road, based on the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process. More generally, this serves as an example of how probabilistic local interactions can be modelled by processes stopped at inverse local times.
