Abstract
Having been born in the era of TRACE and SOHO missions, the diagnostics of solar coronal plasmas with magnetohydrodynamic waves and oscillations ย the MHD coronal seismology ย has reached its maturity in the Hinode and STEREO times. The talk presents the current trends in MHD coronal seismology, including first detection of kink oscillations in spectroscopic data, and their first stereoscopic observation, as well as recent achievements in the theory of solar coronal waves and oscillations. In particular, the possible excitation of standing kink oscillations by Alfvenic vortex shedding in CME upflows is considered. Also, the recent progress in the study of quasi-periodic pulsations in solar flares with RHESSI , NoRH and CORONAS -F/SONG, and their possible connection with MHD oscillations is discussed.
