A random walk through Julia

Julia is a programming language that aims to improve technical computing. In this talk I will provide a short introduction to Julia, try to address why you might want to explore Julia for your work and touch on topics such as HPC , accelerated computing and automatic differentiation.

Bio: Valentin Churavy is a PhD student at the MIT JuliaLab where he works on the Julia with an eye on HPC and scientific use-cases. As part of his work he helps science teams get the most out of Julia and tries to improve the language, compiler, and runtime of Julia for their use-cases.

Prior to joining MIT he worked on applying machine learning to biological use-cases and simulations in cognitive science.
