Abstract
A real demand now exists for fault-tolerant control systems. This talk gives some examples in which this arises, drawn from process control, automotive and aerospace applications. But fault-tolerance is a very ambitious objective; the talk examines what has been achieved so far, and what it might be possible to achieve. It also speculates a little on how it might be achieved. The paper is illustrated by examples from real applications, particularly from the aerospace sector. Lots of photos, very little maths.
Series This talk is part of the CUED Control Group Seminars series.
