Abstract
In this seminar, I will talk about perturbative fragmentation functions, in particular those describing the production of a massive quark, and how they can be used to resum a certain class of logarithms present in cross sections involving a high-energy massive quark. I will also present a recent extraction of the non-perturbative fragmentation function describing the transition of a b-quark to a B-hadron, as well as a novel method of describing the decay of a particle using fragmentation functions. All of these ingredients were used in a NNLO cross section calculation of top-pair production at the LHC in association with a B-hadron, and I will be presenting some of the results of that calculation as well.
