Abstract
Quantum Information has opened new possibilities for communications and computation. However, there are still few applications of quantum information to computer network problems. In this talk, I will discuss the place of the existing quantum communication protocols in the classical layered model for computer networks and argue that quantum information can also be applied to improve network performance. As an example, I will introduce a delayed commutation protocol that gives a quantum solution to the processing delay problem in packet switching networks. Additional protocols for multiple access and for transport layer tasks will also be discussed.
