Inspired by the structure and dynamics of biological brains, neuromorphic hardware has mainly been used as a tool in computational neuroscience. However, today this hardware technology has reached the stage when it could enable the next step in computing hardware, enabling real-time energy efficient AI. In this talk, I will give a historical and geographic overview of the field and its applications, with an emphasis on event-based vision and robotics.
