Abstract
The goal of the mean-field theory is the derivation of effective non-linear non-local PDEs from particle systems, in a suitable scaling where every particles interact with every particles. We shall give a brief introduction to the mean-field theory in the classical mechanics case, and review shortly some known methods for deriving collision or transport equations. Then we shall outline a new method, from a work in collaboration with S. Mischler and B. Wennberg.
