Graham Ward is head of the school of Arts, Histories and Cultures at Manchester University and professor of Contextual Theology and Ethics. He has written on the theology of language, postmodernism, cultural analysis and Christology. His many books include Barth, Derrida and the language of theology (Cambridge University Press, 1995); Cities of God (Routledge, 2000); and Cultural Transformation and Religious Practice (Cambridge University Press, 2004), and he is now, among other things, involved in a large international research project, sponsored by the British Academy, concerned with examining ‘The New Visibility of Religion in European Democratic Culture’
