Ecosystem order and political rupture in the Arctic
- 👤 Speaker: Dr. Elana Wilson Rowe, Research professor and Head of the Center for Ocean Governance at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs
- 📅 Date & Time: Friday 21 June 2024, 14:00 - 15:00
- 📍 Venue: Scott Polar Research Institute, Seminar Room
Abstract
How does cooperation around meta-ecosystems shape regional and global ordering? What happens when this order is disrupted? In this seminar, Dr. Elana Wilson Rowe will present findings of the ERC -funded ‘The Lorax project: Understanding Ecosystemic Politics’, which has explored how states and other actors are shaping global order by ‘speaking for’ border-crossing ecosystems on a global stage. We then turn to the question of disruption and discuss how Arctic regional cooperation has been impacted by Russia’s war against Ukraine.
The seminar sets aside ample time for discussion and Elana is also happy to answer questions about her experiences in applying for and managing an ERC starting grant.
