Abstract
First, I will present physical evidence of anomalous super-diffusion (that is, faster-than-normal diffusion) in low-dimensional systems of interacting particles and a non-rigorous (but very instructive and inspiring) scaling argument from the physics literature of the 1970-ies which provides a precise and convincing “big-picture”. Second, I will present some model-examples (self-interacting walks and diffusions with long memory, random walks and diffusions in random media) where the predictions of the scaling argument can be either rigorously established, or approximated (by super-diffusive bounds) in a mathematically rigorous way.
