Abstract
In 2019, Lord Howe Island was the site of the first ever large-scale eradication of rodents on a permanently inhabited island. Examining the political ecology of the Lord Howe Island Rodent Eradication Project, this talk explores the social controversy that coalesced around the eradication. Through the lens of haunting, I examine the lingering presence of both rodents and the eradication within the community and show the entanglements of human and non-human belonging.
Series This talk is part of the Political Ecology Group meetings series.
