Measuring tau g-2 at the LHC

Abstract
Measuring the electromagnetic moments of the tau lepton tests fundamental principles of the Standard Model and discrepancies between measurement and theoretical prediction could reveal new physics. However, they are challenging to measure due to the short tau lifetime – seven orders of magnitude shorter than the muon. In this seminar I will discuss how recent advances using the LHC as a photon collider have enabled the first new constraints on the tau magnetic moment (âg-2â) for nearly two decades.
