Abstract

Since the collapse of the former Yugoslavia in the 1990s the area of the former country has been ripe for archaeological investigations. Whilst Serbia and Croatia have seen the majority of this attention, there has been a recent shift towards fieldwork in northern Bosnia. This research falls into the category. Working with a team from Cambridge and Leicester as well as Bosnian archaeologists from the Museum of the Republic Srpska and the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo, the ongoing research aims to take a geoarchaeological and artifactual perspective on the prehistory of the region. The aim here is to eventually describe and place archaeological sites in their wider environmental and geographical landscapes, whilst staying mindful of the localised, site specific nature of the project.
