- 👤 Speaker: Alex Jeffery
- 📅 Date & Time: Friday 30 May 2025, 13:00 - 14:30

Abstract
This talk will explore the expanding use of the UN Genocide convention as a mechanism to limit or halt mass violence. Exploring the example of The Gambia vs. Myanmar at the International Court of Justice, the discussion will explore the geopolitical circumstances contributing to the desire to use law to mediate international relations. It will go on to speculate whether we are seeing, as some commentators argue, a ‘judicialisation of international relations’ or whether recent cases are a signal of increasing anarchy in the global order.
