In my talk, I will present two recent results:

1) I will show that by properly calibrating the astrometry in Stripe82 dataset one can improve the precision of proper motions by a factor of two (down to 1.5mas/yr), thereby significantly increasing the information content of the catalogue.

2) I will also demonstrate that still widely used cross-correlation method to derive radial velocities of the resolved stellar populations (especially based on IRAF fxcor routine) should in fact NEVER be used because the precision of it is up to two times worse than the simple chi-squared fitting of the spectra.
