Abstract
Abstract: My collaboration with the Mayo Clinic Study of Aging since 2013 and more recently with the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center has supported my research into mild cognitive impairment, Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD), their risk factors and biomarkers, and patient eligibility in ADRD clinical trials. In this presentation, I will draw from this research experience and explore the multifactorial etiology of cognitive impairment in older adults.
Bio: Dr. Maria Vassilaki is an Associate Professor of Epidemiology at the Mayo Clinic, where her research focuses on cognitive ageing and impairment. She holds an M.D. from the University of Crete, with a medical specialty in “Public Health and Social Medicine,” an M.P.H. in Disease Control from the University of Texas, and a Ph.D. in Epidemiology from UCLA . Dr. Vassilaki brings a broad academic background to population-based research aiming to identify early indicators and risk factors for cognitive decline, mild cognitive impairment, and dementia.
