The Roman invasion of Britain in the 1st century AD generated an interesting mix of cultural attitudes, which eventually led to a Romano-British identity made of the combination of indigenous and introduced elements. Food and meat played an important role in this process. In this talk, I will discuss how meat consumption contributed to the shaping of Romano-British culture and how it changed through the four centuries of Roman occupation.
