Abstract
From a particular psychoanalytic perspective this talk will be a free association to Mannocci’s inspiring exhibitions: The Angel and The Virgin and Clouds and Myths. Freud discovered the unconscious and Winnicott showed how the early mother-infant relationship impacted on our sense of self. The ‘good enough mother’ ‘ordinary devotion’ and ‘primary creativity’ are some of the concepts pertinent to the themes emanating from Mannocci’s work. We may also wonder what hidden themes are alluded to in the narrative of The Annunciation that concern the personal history of each individual.
Series This talk is part of the Festival of the Annunciation, Fitzwilliam Museum series.
