Archaeological discovery is constant, whether through fieldwork, research, or the reanalysis of existing data. However, interest in traditional communication channels continues to decline. This raises an important question: how can we continue to share new knowledge, opportunities, and research effectively in a changing landscape?

In an increasingly digital and interconnected world, archaeologists across all sectors can use technology to reach wider audiences, encourage collaboration, and increase impact. This talk will explore the range of digital communication tools available, how to choose the most suitable platforms for your aims and audiences, and practical strategies for creating a strong online presence. It will examine approaches to online engagement that move beyond passive viewing and encourage meaningful and active participation.

However, not all that glitters is gold! The rapid growth of digital media has also led to an increase in misinformation. 3,000 word, peer reviewed articles are often overshadowed by 30 second unverified videos. As professionals, we must learn to navigate and influence this environment responsibly, ensuring that accessible communication does not replace accuracy.

This talk is part of the Archaeology, Outreach, and Social Media series.
