Abstract
Dr Bronwyn Parry, Reader at Queen Mary University of London, has been collaborating with two of the longitudinal cohort studies run from the Department of Public Health and Primary Care here – Cambridge City over-75s Cohort (CC75C) study and the Medical Research Council Cognitive Function and Ageing Study (MRC-CFAS). The Wellcome Trust awarded funding to Dr Parry under the “Public Involvement in Science” programme to put together an exhibition about brain donation – /Mind over Matter/ – with photographs and recordings of some of the “oldest old” participants who are intending to donate through these two studies of ageing, after many years’ participation in repeated cognitive assessments. The project was short-listed from over a hundred entries for presentation at “The Eye of the Storm”, a Tate Britain symposium that aims to highlight cutting edge arts/science collaborative work in new challenging areas. Photographs from the exhibition will be screened during the talk.
