Abstract
This course is part of the Scientific Computing series.
Mathematica is a software package for numerical computation, symbolic manipulation and the production of graphics from mathematical functions and data. This course examines Mathematica’s graphical capabilities in more detail than the “Mathematica: Basics” course.
Duration: One half day session
Sessions: Date Time Venue Trainer Tue 1 Jun 09:30 – 13:00 Room GL.04 (CMS, Wilberforce Road) Bruce Beckles
Format: Self-paced practicals.
Prerequisites:
- Knowledge of matrix algebra and simple calculus is assumed.
- Prior attendance at the “Mathematica: Basics” course or equivalent experience
- Those attending should be able to use a plain text editor (e.g. emacs, gedit, pico, vi) on a Unix system as might be obtained from the Emacs or Vi introductory courses.
Topics covered:
- Handling graphics
- Plotting data
- Combining graphics
System requirements: Mathematica v. 7 on PWF Linux
Notes:
- No attempt is made to teach mathematical techniques.
- Attendees may also be interested in the “Mathematica: Linear Algebra” course.
