Structure-property relationships of molecular crystals

Abstract
The presentation will focus mainly on single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies of various organic and metal-organic molecular crystals with a view to understanding the relationships between structure and function. More specifically, properties of interest include (1) optical second harmonic generation as a result of polar ordering of guest molecules in inclusion compounds, (2) gas uptake by seemingly nonporous porous crystals and (3) anomalously large positive and negative thermal expansion.
