Abstract
The paper analyses data from an official prevalence survey which sampled 9,000 young adolescents in Great Britain during 2008-9. Risk factors are identified for a child (i) engaging in gambling and (ii) displaying symptoms of problem gambling (conditional on gambling at all). Covariates in the modelling reflect home, school and peer influences. The survey also collected information on drinking and smoking and principal results from modelling these behaviours are also noted.
