Abstract

Abstract: Business environments continue to change at a dramatically increasing pace. In software engineering, agile development approaches such as Extreme Programming, Lean Software Development or SCRUM , view change from a perspective that mirrors this turbulent business and technology environment. These agile development approaches represent a major departure from traditional, plan-driven approaches to software engineering. “The plan” is replaced by frequent “planning” which is left to self organising teams. The effects of such changes to planning practice include problems of reduced control or difficulties with estimates. Agile development continues to have a huge impact on how software is developed worldwide. The objective of Denniz’s talk is to provide an overview of Agile Development Methodologies, and discuss their strengths and limitations.

Denniz is a PhD candidate from ETH Zurich and a former visiting student of the EDC . He completed his diploma in engineering from the Institute of Product Development at the Technical University of Munich. His research focusses on Agile Development Methodologies in Software Engineering.
