Astrophysical probes of fundamental physics

The universe is a unique laboratory in which to probe fundamental physics, and an unprecedented number of such tests will be possible in the coming years, by exploiting the ever improving data from ground and space. I will illustrate this point by discussing how CMB data can be used to constrain fundamental constants, and how these measurements can be combined with others at lower or higher redshift. I will also discuss the prospects for this field in the coming years, focusing on exploiting current and forthcoming ESO facilities.
