Xen and the Art of Startups

Abstract
In January 2005, four University of Cambridge researchers founded a technology start-up called βXenSourceβ. In November 2007, XenSource was purchased by Citrix Systems (NASDAQ:CTXS) for US $500M. In this talk I will outline the story of XenSource, from technical inception to the ultimate purchase, and draw a number of lessons regarding things we did right and β more often! β things we did wrong.
About the speaker: Steve Hand is the University of Cambridge Reader in Computer Systems, with interests in operating systems, computer architecture, programming languages, distributed systems and algorithms. He has published over 50 peer-reviewed papers and supervised 7 PhD students to completion to date, with 6 more in the pipeline.
