What can be done to address the issue of the purposes of public exams better? Why, for example, do students have to take GCS Es, English language exams, A levels, Diplomas, and vocational assessments? Can we balance the differing needs of those who are stakeholders in these assessment systems? This seminar, and the following four seminars, will address such questions in the light of currently live issues in the world of examining and educational assessment. Participants will be asked to share their own experiences and perceptions, and to reflect on those of others. Cost: Free for University of Cambridge staff and students, ÂŖ30 for other participants
