Abstract
In January 2010 the Greek & Roman gallery of the Fitzwilliam re-opened after its first redisplay in forty years. The 18-month refurbishment aimed at providing an up-to-date encounter with the Greek and Roman collection which would appeal to visitors of all experiences. As the Research Associate employed to facilitate the new display I will talk about what happened when academic concepts about the ancient world met the practicalities of displaying antiquity in a museum.
