Abstract
In recent years, there has been a growing trend in incorporating machine learning techniques in computer vision applications. This talk will give a brief overview of the problems in computer vision and the application of machine learning in solving these problems.
We will look at the Viola-Jones detector for face detection as an example. It employs a variant of the AdaBoost learning algorithm to select the best features and to train a set of classifiers, with a cascade architecture to provide real-time performance. The paper can be found at http://www.cs.unc.edu/~lazebnik/spring10/viola_jones.pdf
