Brauer algebras with parameter two.

Abstract
Brauer algebras arose from a generalisation of classical Schur-Weyl duality between symmetric and general linear groups to two other classical groups, and have recently received a surge in interest. One key feature of Brauer algebras is their close relationship with symmetric groups. In this talk I will review the definition of the Brauer algebra and some symmetric group representation theory. I will then describe some simple modules for the Brauer algebra with parameter two over any algebraically closed field of characteristic not two. Time permitting, some characteristic two results are discussed. If possible I will also mention the Brauer algebra with parameter minus two.
