Abstract
Society and health – How does the society we live in affect our health and how we access healthcare?
Interest in the wider determinantes of health is growing among health care professionals and the British population. Recent reports showed that the north of England was still significantly behind the south in terms of health outcomes and people are questioning why. Come and listen to Professor Graham Scambler discuss the social factors that affect medical care and population health. Prof Scambler is the author of ‘Sociology as applied to medicine’, a key text for the first year SCHI course, so this talk may be of particular interest to the 1st year medice in preparation for the sociology exam.
