Quantum information processing with semiconductor nanotechnology

Abstract
New technologies that apply the fundamental laws of Quantum Physics to network communications and computing promise to revolutionise the entire IT industry over the next 20 years.
Quantum Information Technology concerns the transport and processing of information using individual particles such as electrons or photons, which brings unexpected advantages.
In this seminar, I will briefly introduce some of these advantages and technologies including quantum computing, quantum cryptography and quantum teleportation. I will also present the work done at the Cavendish in collaboration with Toshiba Research Europe to develop such technologies using advanced semiconductor nanostructures.
