The Food of the Gods: the True Tale of Chocolate

Abstract
Today chocolate is a much loved treat all around the world. But what is not as well known is that the cacao bean, which is the key ingredient for chocolate, has had an adventurous history dating back to Pre-Columbian times! This talk will present the true history of chocolate and its use, not only as a food item, but also for ritual use by the Ancient Maya, for trade and exchange by the Aztecs, and as a precious commodity in global economics today. A sampling of special varieties of chocolate will be served!
