Abstract

“Jane Austen’s Language” A symposium Cambridge, 27 May 2011, 2.00-5.30 pm Faculty of English, room G.04

2011 is the bicentenary of the publication of Jane Austen’s first novel. This symposium is being held to celebrate her achievement and to explore the possibilities for future research in an aspect of her work that remains surprisingly neglected, her use and art of language. The symposium participants, who approach this topic from a variety of perspectives, will be presenting work-in-progress papers in a workshop format. Graduate students and Faculty members with related research interests are welcome to attend and there will be opportunities during the afternoon for them to contribute to the discussion.
