About the Director:
Doris Doerrie (born 1955) is one of the most important directors in contemporary German film. She became widely known for her comedies “Maenner” (“Men”) in 1985 and “Nackt” (“Naked”) in 2002. Her films have received various prestigious awards, e.g. the Bayerische Filmpreis for “Kirschblueten – Hanami” and, most recently, the Grimme Preis in 2011 for “Klimawechsel” (“Climate Change”). In addition to her filmic work, Doerrie also directed various operas in major German theatres, most importantly Cosi fan tutte (2001) and Turandot (2003) at the Staatsoper Berlin.
