Abstract
In recent years, the nature of public engagement has been shifting. Alongside well-established means of engaging the public, new media technologies have opened up an enormous range of options for communicating far beyond the physical limits of the university. Podcasts are a hugely effective method of getting your research out there, such as those by Cambridge’s Naked Scientists. These reach a large and diverse audience, frequently rate very highly in the iTunes download chart, and also have streaming slots on local radio.
Chris Smith will talk about his experiences with the Naked Scientists and about the benefits of public engagement. Along with experts from the Community Affairs team, ‘how to’ advice will also be given about producing and disseminating podcasts, so that you can get started. Finally, you will have the chance to ask questions of the speakers.
