- π€ Speaker: (Various)
- π Date & Time: Wednesday 22 June 2011, 17:30 - 18:30
- π Venue: Lecture Theatre LT0, Department of Engineering
Abstract
Getting your research into the print/broadcast media is still an incredibly powerful way of sharing ideas and findings with a mass audience, but journalists are busy people with tight deadlines and a high turnover of possible news stories. How do you get their attention for your research? How do you build a good relationship with the media, so that they keep coming back? What are the potential pitfalls?
The lecture will begin with a case study from other researchers to show how they have worked with print/broadcast media and what the benefits were. A representative from the local media will also be on hand to explain what catches their eye, what doesnβt, and how to pitch your ideas effectively to a mass audience. Finally, there will be a Q&A with the speakers.
