Abstract
Electricity generation accounts for one third of all carbon emissions in the UK. Reducing emissions by increasing the amount of renewable energy sources is therefore essential to achieve a significant reduction in the UK’s carbon emissions and reach the European 2020 energy goals. One good source is offshore wind power, considering the abundance of windy stretches along the British coastline. Recent developments have already made the UK the world’s largest producer of offshore wind power, but we still lag behind the proposed targets and its estimated potential. With nuclear power facing challenges after the Fukushima disaster, a solution has to be found for future low carbon energy production.
Speakers and delegates from many of the world’s leading energy and technology companies and academic institutions will be present, with opportunities to network over coffee and lunch breaks during the day. This would be an excellent opportunity for those interested in sustainable energy to gather and exchange their most valuable ideas.
The Cambridge University Energy Network (CUEN) is a student-run university society and our goal is to bring together the industrial and academic communities to share their knowledge and interest in the generation and consumption of energy. It also serves to promote a structured, cross disciplinary approach to teaching and research in sustainable energy. More information about CUEN can be found here .
Ticket prices: Professional (Early bird) = £120 Academic and University Staff (Early bird) = £70 Student and Post Doctoral Researcher (Early bird) = £10 Company Showcase (Early bird) = £300
