Abstract
Mathematics and its sister subject of Astronomy is the oldest intellectual creation of mankind. Yet it remains in vigorous health, still in contact with its ancient roots but constantly expanding its horizons. Each generation makes its own distinctive contribution. I will describe how it succeeds in maintaining its youthful spirit.
A complimentary drinks reception for all attendees will follow on after the lecture in the foyer to the Lady Mitchell Hall.
