Abstract
This talk will initially outline the reasons to study fish immunology from fundamental and applied viewpoints. It will then outline on-going work in Aberdeen on elucidating the cytokine network in fish, with a focus on two cytokine families, IL-1F and interferons, with a comparison to the known genes in mammals. The talk will finish with a look at the possible future use of cytokines as markers of resistance in fish disease models.
