Abstract
The talk will cover carbon markets, and financiers’ perspectives on issues such as climate change, renewable energy and energy-efficiency measures. The talk will consider the application of carbon markets to Central Asia and Eastern Europe in particular.

Jan-Willem van de Ven, Head of Secretariat, EBRD -EIB Multilateral Carbon Credit Fund
Dutch-born Jan-Willem joined the EBRD in August 2003. He has been appointed as the Head of the Secretariat of the âŦ 190 million EBRD â EIB Multilateral Carbon Credit Fund. Prior to this he was involved as a banker and contributed his expertise in carbon finance, energy efficiency and renewables to EBRD projects. Jan-Willem has over ten years of experience in the development of sustainable energy projects from Central America to Eastern Europe, as well as in the related policy development. He plays an active role in the international policy dialogue for climate change protection and the promotion of energy efficiency and renewable energy. Prior to EBRD he worked as Innovation Manager with Dutch utility company Essent. He has a M.Sc degree in Technology & Society International Technological Development Science from the Eindhoven University of Technology and a B.Eng in Business Engineering from the Eindhoven Higher Technical School.
