Abstract
Interpreting meanings of home-based education may be approached through historical and cross-cultural investigation. Investigating the practices, purposes and contexts of such provision from the 1960s to the present in England and British Columbia may provide insights into social history and the history of education. Such investigation appears suited to an (online) oral history approach. Beyond summarising the study’s preliminary findings, consideration of the work to-date invites discussion regarding comparative studies; accessing harder-to-reach groups and the use of the internet in research and in oral history.
