Abstract

Allan Mayo, Head of the BIS Services Policy Unit has been focussing on Service Innovation since 2007. For the past 18 months, he has been working with the Professional and Business Services Group, Chaired by Sir Michael Snyder, on policies to promote growth. The Group provided an input into Phase 1 of the Growth Review and has recently contributed papers on Open Data, Infrastructure, Mid-Size Firms and Education and Skills. He was also invited to Chair a European Expert Panel on Service Innovation, which reported to Vice President Tajani last February and, subsequently, he has been invited to discuss its findings with a number of member states, regions, members of the European Parliament as well as the OECD .

His talk will outline his thinking in relation to innovation and growth and it will also encompass the web based approach he takes to developing communities of interest and the use of interactive roadmapping approaches to policy making, with a live demonstration.
